Ultra reliable sire Count Dubois is never without a good horse to his credit and he looks to have a top class daughter on his hands in the form of the Robbie Sage trained Madame Dubois.
The latter came with a late rattle to land the spoils in Saturday’s G3 HSH Princess Charlene of Monaco Stakes at Turffontein to win going away, leaving a number of highly regarded fillies in her wake.
It was a smart win from the Colin Bird owned sophomore, who had to overcome a shocking draw of 13, and Madame Dubois, now a winner of two of just six outings, looks likely to contest the Triple Tiara later this season.
Bred by Messrs McNab and Miliotis, Madame Dubois, who ran third in last season’s G1 Allan Robertson Fillies Championship, clearly rates among the leaders of her generation.
Her sire Count Dubois has an outstanding record at stud, with his past top performers including last season’s Equus Champion 3YO French Navy and G1 winning colt Zeeno.
The son of Zafonic has also an excellent record with his daughters –top class Count Dubois fillies including the likes of champion Asylum Seeker, G1 winner Zaitoon, the brilliant Fairyinthewoods (winner of six in a row including the G2 Southern Cross Stakes), and graded winners Countess Corlia, Ethics and Kinematic Countess.
Count Dubois, whose offspring have fetched up to R2 million in the sales ring, is also the sire of millionaire Biarritz, who has made such a promising start to his stud career with his first crop including the top class stakes winner Anglet. To date, Count Dubois’ offspring have earned more than R35 million in stakes.
From a tremendous female line and a half brother to Irish 2000 Guineas winner Indian Haven, Count Dubois stands for a stud fee of R10 000 in 2015.
