Maine Chance Farms’ red hot sire Silvano (who was also responsible for recent G3 Betting World Algoa Cup hero Nebula) was represented by his 64th individual stakes winner when his daughter Girl On The Run landed Saturday’s G3 Emperors Palace Phil Collins Tribute Show Yellowwood Handicap.
One of four graded winners on the day for trainer Johan Janse Van Vuuren, the Maine Chance Farms bred and owned Girl On The Run made it win number four from just nine outings (she is yet to finish out of the money) with an authorative two and a half length win over Polyphonic in Saturday’s R250 000 race,
(First four finishers home in the Yellowwood are all bred in the Cape, with Varsfontein Stud having bred Polyphonic, Klawervlei Stud breeding third filly home, Fortissima, and Mauritzfontein Stud bred Persian Rug taking fourth.)
Girl On The Run, who is out of the Badger Land mare Girl From Grenada, is the latest high class performer bred on the Silvano/Badger Land cross –with this mating having also produced former G2 SA Oaks winner Happy Spirit, Listed Winter Oaks winner We Three and G3 Winter Derby winner Gifted For Glory.
She was one of four winners on the weekend for Silvano, whose G3 Protea Stakes winning son Janoobi bounced back to winning ways when scoring a convincing 1.5 length win over 1600m at Turffontein on Saturday.
