Bred by Carl and Amanda De Vos, Gold Standard made it back to back wins when running on strongly to land Friday’s R150 000 race by a neck. The second winner of the race in the past three years for trainer Glen Kotzen, Gold Standard is yet to finish out of the money in four outings and looks destined for bigger and better things this season.

Gold Standard, who was a R725 000 purchase from the 2015 Val De Vie Yearling Sale, is one of several high class three-year-olds representing Trippi this season. Others include Listed Storm Bird Stakes hero Flying Myth, G1 Thekwini Stakes runner up Dawn Calling, and last season’s high class performers Double Appeal and Live Life.

Trippi, broodmare sire of 2015 G1 Breeders’ Cup Dirt hero Liam’s Map, could also make waves at the upcoming Breeders’ Cup meeting this weekend.

He is broodmare sire of the very exciting G1 Sentient Jet Juvenile contender Not This Time, who has won two of his three starts to date, and who romped home to victory by 8.75 lengths last time out in the G3 Iroquois Stakes.

Jockey Robby Albarado rated Not This Time very highly- only two other horses had given him that sort of goose bumps when he rode them: 2003 Horse of the Year Mineshaft and 2007-’08 Horse of the Year Curlin!

Trippi, whose offspring include five time G1 winner Inara and former Equus Champion Hammie’s Hooker, has a single lot on offer at the upcoming CTS Johannesburg Ready To Run Sale:

Lot 12 –a half sister to 2 winners, this filly is out of a half sister to G1 winning 2yo Exhilaration, and her second dam, by broodmare sire great Elliodor, is a half sister to multiple stakes winner Grecian Gale –dam of G1 winners Malteme and Wendywood.
