Hemel ‘N Aarde Stud’s resident sire Alado’s magnificent female line was once again to the fore at Tattersalls October Yearling Sale (Book 1) on Wednesday.
The top lot sold on Wednesday, and the most expensive yearling sold thus far in 2015, was lot 304 –a daughter of world leading sire Dubawi and the Sadler’s Wells mare Loveisallyouneed.
The latter is an unraced full sister to G1 Irish 1000 Guineas winner Yesterday and G1 Moyglare Stud Stakes winner Quarter Moon, the latter dam of this season’s G1 winning filly Diamondsandrubies (by Fastnet Rock). This is the same family as German Horse Of The Albanova, her dual G1 Champion Stakes winning sister Alborada and G1 French 2000 Guineas winner and sire Aussie Rules, as well as the above mentioned Alado (who is out of Alborada) and former South African Horse Of The Year Igugu.
This great female line also produced the mighty Nasrullah –five times champion sire in North America, and his highly successful three parts brother Royal Charger.
The attractive bay sales topper, consigned by Newsells Park Stud, was bought by MV Magnier for 2.1 million guineas.
Magnier was buying on behalf of Richard Henry, boss of Coolmore’s advertising arm Primus Advertising and commented; “I think he was overcome with emotion,” referring to the fact that Henry had Jude, the wonderful stakes producing grand-dam of this filly.
Richard Henry added;
“I sold Loveisallyouneed and just after that Jude died. I wanted to get back into the family – it has been so good to us. We counted up – there are 12 Group winners on the page, including seven Group 1 winners and we raced three of them.”
“Yesterday is in-foal to red-hot first season sire Zoffany and Quarter Moon has produced two high-class fillies by Fastnet Rock in Group 1 winner Diamondsandrubies and Classic prospect for next season How High The Moon. Hopefully this filly might be as good as them!”
