Another stakes winner for Philanthropist!
Drakenstein Stud’s beautifully bred, and successful young sire, Philanthropist, was represented by yet another stakes winner on Sunday. His son Phil’s Dream landed the Overskate Stakes at Woodbine – a $125 000 contest over 1400m.
He is the sixth stakes winner, from 100 foals of racing age, for his sire Philanthropist.
A superbly bred son of the great sire Kris S, Philanthropist did exceptionally well, from small books of mares, during a brief stint at stud in Canada. His very first crop included champion and classic winner Pender Harbour – whose eight wins have netted his connections over $1 000 000 in prize money.
A smart racehorse himself, Philanthropist won six races including the Gr3 Queens County Handicap. One of over 90 stakes winners sired by Kris S, Philanthropist is out of a full sister to Grade One winner Educated Risk. From the same family as leading SA sire National Assembly, his fourth dam is the immortal mare Grey Flight – who produced a staggering nine stakes winners.
Philanthropist, whose first local crop are foals in 2013, stands alongside Horse Chestnut, Trippi and What A Winter.
To date, his offspring have earned over $6 000 000 in prize money.
