Antonius fires!
Highlands Farm’s exciting young sire, Antonius Pius had his fifth winner from his first local crop of juveniles when his talented son Antonius Du Bois won by over three lengths at Durbanville on Wednesday afternoon.

Currently South Africa’s leading first crop sire by wins (7) and prize money, Antonius Pius has made a sensational start to his stud career in South Africa. He is also fourth on the 2yo sires list above such sires as Western Winter, Trippi and Kahal.

His first 15 local runners have yielded ten runners to win or place, and with a number of well bred individuals yet to face the starter, Antonius Pius looks to have a very bright future at stud.

One of 200 stakes winners by the immortal Danzig, Antonius Pius’ dam, Catchascatchcan, was an unbeaten winner of the Gr1 Yorkshire Oaks. This is the family of successful sires Averof and Oncidium.

Highlands has enjoyed plenty of success with Danzig sons in the past, ie National Assembly and Joshua Dancer, and Antonius Pius looks to be another hit!

Antonius Pius has three yearlings on offer at the 2013 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale – and they look sure to be popular.

He stood for a stud fee of R15,000 in 2012.
