His first 15 local runners have yielded ten runners to win or place, and with a number of well bred individuals yet to face the starter, Antonius Pius looks to have a very bright future at stud.
One of 200 stakes winners by the immortal Danzig, Antonius Pius’ dam, Catchascatchcan, was an unbeaten winner of the Gr1 Yorkshire Oaks. This is the family of successful sires Averof and Oncidium.
Highlands has enjoyed plenty of success with Danzig sons in the past, ie National Assembly and Joshua Dancer, and Antonius Pius looks to be another hit!
Antonius Pius has three yearlings on offer at the 2013 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale – and they look sure to be popular.
He stood for a stud fee of R15,000 in 2012.
