Big race hopes for Over relatives

Klawervlei’s exciting young sire Twice Over, whose first yearlings have already proven highly sought after in the sales ring this year, is from a truly exceptional family –and one who could get yet even more impressive this year.

The four time G1 winner and European champion Twice Over comes from a family of such noted G1 winners All At Sea, Banshee Breeze, Mutual Trust, Passage Of Time and Timepiece (to name a few), as well as last year’s exciting pattern race winners Antonoe and Time Test.
The latter, winner of the 2015 G3 Tercentenary Stakes at Royal Ascot, is out of G1 Criterium de Saint-Cloud winner Passage Of Time –whose second dam Quandary is also granddam of Twice Over.

Time Test’s trainer Roger Charlton has entered the dual Group winning colt in a number of G1 races, including the Al Shaqab Lockinge Stakes and Tattersalls Gold Cup, and Charlton feels the G1 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot could be a good race for Time Test to shine in.

Antonoe, an impressive winner of two of her three starts in 2015, including the G3 Prix d’Aumale, is another exciting prospect to emerge from Twice Over’s blossoming family. The lightly raced three-year-old (whose third dam is G1 Prix du Moulin winner All At Sea) holds an entry for the G1 QIPCO 1000 Guineas, due to be run at Newmarket on May 1st and she looks a natural classic prospect.

A dual winner of the G1 Champion Stakes, Twice Over made an instant impression in the South African sales rings, with his first crop yearlings fetching R1 000 000, R700 000, R575 000 and R500 000.

He has 12 lots on offer at next week’s Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale including a half sister to G3 winner Jamaican Dream (Lot 39), a filly out of a G1 placed three parts sister to Guineas winners Dupont and Pacino (Lot 114), a half sister to Equus Champion and multiple G1 winner Mother Russia (Lot 148), and a filly out of a G3 winning daughter of the world’s best sire Galileo (Lot 162).

The champion also has 13 lots on offer at the upcoming National Yearling Sale including a filly out of former Equus Champion Esoleta Fitz (Lot 75), a filly out of another champion in Monyela (Lot 220), and a colt out of G3 Winter Derby heroine Sweet Virginia, already dam of high class stakes winner and Hong Kong performer Strong Man (now named Horse Of Fortune) (Lot367).
