Jack Naylor, a close relative of Mauritzfontein Stud’s well performed young stallion Byword, picked up another group race victory this weekend to add further glory to an already exceptional female line.
The daughter of Champs Elysees (himself a full brother to the dam of another Mauritzfontein sire-Ideal World), landed the G3 Denny Cordell Lavarack & Lanwades Stud Fillies Stakes at Gowran Park on Sunday.
Jack Naylor, who had finished second in the G1 Darley Irish Oaks and fourth in the G1 Irish 1000 Guineas earlier in the season, was dispatched as the even money favourite for owner Gerald Byrne.
Trainer Jessica Harrington (also handled Highlands’ promising new sire Pathfork), was delighted by the win, saying, “”It’s great to get her head in front again. She found plenty.
“We were bringing here back well short of her trip.”
Jack Naylor has now won or placed in seven of her 11 outings, with her earlier victories including a score in the G3 Jockey Club of Turkey Silver Flash Stakes as well as victory in the Listed Flame Of Tara EBF Stakes. In the latter race, she defeated none other than Legatissimo, whose three G1 wins this year include the QIPCO 1000 Guineas.
Jack Naylor’s dam is the Pretty Polly Stakes winning Fashionable, whose third dam, Peace, is also the fourth dam of G1 Prince of Wales’s Stakes winner Byword.
The latter will be represented by his first yearlings in 2016.
