Boland Stud have a number of well related foals to their credit this season. One of the farm’s nicest arrivals is this stunning colt by prominent sire Judpot.
He is out of the Elliodor mare Bejewelled Spring, and is thus a half brother to recently retired Singapore champion, and Maine Chance Farms bred, Flax. The latter, a R230 000 buy from the 2008 Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale, won or placed in 17 races during his racing career in Singapore for owners Newbury Racing and was a magnificent advert for the Cape bred thoroughbred.
Flax, a son of champion sire SIlvano, earned more than S$1 million with his principal victories including scores in the SG1 Raffles Cup, SG2 Chairman’s Prize, SG3 Jumbo Jet Trophy, and SG3 Committee’s Prize. He also ran third to multiple G1 winner Chinchon in the 2012 G1 Singapore Airlines International Cup.
Flax’s dam, Bejewelled Spring, is a half sister to Blossoming Fields, ARCSA Champion 2YO Colt of 1995 and winner of both the G1 Smirnoff Sprint and G1 SA Nursery. This is also the family of top class US galloper Mi Selecto, whose nine wins included the G1 Meadowlands Cup, G1 Pan American Hcp and G1 Gulfstream Park Hcp.
Judpot, sire of Flax’s attractive half brother, has made a scintillating start to the 2015-2016 racing season. The son of A P Indy has been represented by a number of prominent and promising winners already this season including G2 Supreme Cup (Sponsored by SAP) winner Deputy Jud.
Currently Judpot, a half brother to sire legend Kingmambo, is currently seventh on South Africa’s General Sires List and is the country’s Leading Sire On Sand.
