Blue in the pink!

Riverton Stud’s Blue Tiger has really let down into a fine looking stallion. The handsome grey has a temperament to match his physique, and looks the part of contented young sire.

Riverton’s Duncan Barry is pleased with his first crop of foals, and hopes they can run as fast as their sire did!

Blue Tiger was a tremendous athlete, who raced from two to seven years. He defeated the great champion Pocket Power in the G1 Rising Sun Challenge of 2010 , and also accounted for the likes of Mother Russia, Smart Banker, Warm White Night and, to name a few, during his racing career.

The grey scored his biggest win in the 2008 Gr2 Diadem Stakes, where he beat the likes of champions Rebel King and Pocket Power. Blue Tiger also won the G3 Cape Classic over 1400 metres.

Remarkably the horse placed three times in the prestigious Gr1 Cape Flying Championship – the Cape’s sole G1 sprint race.

A really durable horse, Blue Tiger won or placed in 40 races, and won over R1.3 million in prize money.

A half-brother to G1 winner Rodoille, Blue Tiger is from the family of G1 winners Pointing North and Wainui.

Riverton has a long history of success with grey stallions – having stood the likes of successful greys Jamaico and Russian Fox earlier, and Duncan was keen to stand another horse of this colour. Hopefully Blue Tiger can maintain this tradition!
