Boland Stud’s NYS draft – small in quantity, high in quality!

Boland Stud, breeders of champions Flight Alert, Harry Hotspur and Kiss Of Peace, are proud to offer two lots at next month’s National Yearling Sale in Germiston.

Eugene Freeman will consign two beautifully bred fillies on the three day sale, and both have plenty going for them, both as racing prospects and as eventual broodmares.
First of the Boland draft to enter the sales ring is lot 281, an unnamed daughter of six times champion juvenile sire Captain Al.

Captain Al -Miss Kiri filly

The former Guineas winner has an outstanding record as a sire of fillies, with his numerous top class daughters including champions All Is Secret and Captain’s Lover, as well as Grade 1 winners Captain’s Gal (SA Fillies Sprint), Carry On Alice (SA Nursery) and Emerald Cove. To date, Captain Al has been represented by 14 Grade 1 performing fillies and is also an exceptionally promising broodmare sire (Captain Al mares having already thrown the likes of Grade 1 winners Potent Power and Same Jurisdiction).

Boland Stud’s filly is from an equally impressive female line. A full sister to the high class 2yo Al Capitano, she is out of a winning full sister to Grade 1 Premier’s Champion Stakes winner Talahatchie, as well as the dam of Singapore Champion Lizarre. She is also a three parts sister to one of Captain Al’s best daughters, the high class Grade 1 performer Dance With Al, an earner of over R800 000.
This filly is out of a mare by former champion sire Jallad, who has become an outstanding broodmare sire. To date, Jallad mares have produced more than 20 stakes winners, including champion sprinter Shea Shea, Gr1 Cape Guineas hero Solo Traveller, millionaire Run For It, and former Gr1 J&B Met hero Martial Eagle.

The second of Boland Stud’s NYS offerings is an unnamed daughter of former Grade 1 Travers Stakes second Mambo In Seattle. The royally bred son of Kingmambo has made an exceptional start to his stud career, with Mambo In Seattle’s first crop including the Grade 1 winning millionaire Same Jurisdiction as well as a flood of other highly rated winners.

Out of an own sister to legendary sire A P Indy, Mambo In Seattle’s second crop has already produced a promising looking winner in the form of Mambonick.

Intensely inbred to the legendary sire and broodmare sire Nureyev (as are G1 winners Amanee, Gondokoro, Maids Causeway and Australian Horse Of The Year Lankan Rupee) this beautifully bred miss is out of a winning daughter of Caesour and the Grade 1 Allan Robertson Fillies Championship winner Silver Arc.

Her broodmare sire Caesour has already done well through his daughters, and is the damsire of champion Dancewiththedevil, Gr1 SA Derby hero Royal Bencher, and the ill-fated Gr1 Paddock Stakes winner Emerald Cove – to name but three. Interestingly enough, Royal Bencher, like the filly on sale here, is inbred to the magnificent Nureyev, and lightning could well strike twice!

Visitors are most welcome and all parties interested in viewing the fillies should speak directly to Eugene at
