Dancing Rags, a half sister to Klawervlei Stud’s exciting new sire Coup De Grace, is one of 185 horses pre-entered in the 2016 Breeders’ Cup World Championship set to take place at Santa Anita on November 4th and 5th.
Winner of the recent G1 Alcibiades Stakes, Dancing Rags (Union Rags) is one of 13 two-year-old fillies who have been pre-entered for the $2 000 000 G1 The 14 Hands Winery Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, which will be run over 1700m on November 5th.
The Juvenile Fillies winner almost automatically is named Champion 2YO Filly –with recent winners including such superstars as Songbird, Beholder, Silverbulletday, Sweet Catomine, and the brilliant Tapit filly Stardom Bound.
A winner of two of her three starts to date, Dancing Rags is out of the Storm Cat mare Home Court, whose top class son Coup De Grace began his stud career at Klawervlei this season.
Coup De Grace, the only son of champion US sire Tapit at stud in South Africa, was a top class and speedy athlete whose victories included both the G2 Amsterdam Stakes and G3 Bay Shore Stakes.
His sire, whose G1 winning daughter Sweet Loretta also features in the Juvenile Fillies pre-entries, is enjoying another stellar year and currently sits atop the US General Sires List.
