Maurizfontein Stud’s resident sire Byword, whose first yearlings sell in 2016, had a handsome boost to his already impressive female line on Sunday.
Peniaphobia (by Dandy Man) ran out a facile winner of the G1 LONGINES Hong Kong Sprint, to score by half a length from Gold-Fun.
Runner up in the 1200m Sprint in 2014 and second in this year’s G1 Al Quoz Sprint, the four-year-old gelding has now earned more than £2,146, 178 in stakes with his previous wins including the HK G1 Centenary Sprint Cup and HK G2 Jockey Club Sprint. He may now be aimed towards some of the world’s top sprinters in 2016.
Peniaphobia, who accounted for world class sprinters, is shares his fourth dam Peace with Byword.
The latter, winner of the 2010 G1 Prince Of Wales’s Stakes at Royal Ascot, was France’s Highweight Older Horse the same year of his Ascot triumph. A superb athlete, who won five stakes races, Byword also finished to triple G1 Breeders Cup Mile winner Goldikova in the 2010 G1 Prix d’Ispahan, when going under by half a length.
