Cape Awards 2014-2015

Cape bred champions were honoured at the 2014-2015 Cape Breeders Awards on Friday evening.
The award ceremony took place in the beautiful Lanzerac Hotel, and was attended by many of the Western Cape’s top racing and breeding personalities. The occasion was a joint effort of both the Cape Breeders Club and the Racing Association, and the evening proved a highly enjoyable event.

It was a night to remember for South Africa’s champion breeders Klawervlei Stud. Not only was the Bonnievale farm crowned Breeder of The Year, but their resident sire Captain Al was named Champion Sire, and his son Captain Of All, who now stands alongside Captain Al at Klawervlei, was named Cape Bred Horse Of The Year for 2014-2015. Bred by Riverton Stud, Captain Of All was also named Champion Sprinter and Champion Older Male, while his paternal half sister Carry On Alice won the Champion 3YO Filly award.

Klawervlei also bred Vercingetorix, who was named International Horse Of The Year. A son of Silvano, Vercingetorix is set to stand his first season at stud at Maine Chance Farms, who were named Outstanding Breeder Of The Year, in 2015.
