The running of the R1 000 000, Gr1 Cape Premier Yearling Sales Guineas was a tremendous success for Cape breeders.
Of the 11 runners, ten were bred in the Cape.

Congratulations to Lammerskraal Stud, who bred the winner, Capetown Noir.
Well done also to winning owner, Lady Christine Laidlaw, and trainer Dean Kannemeyer.

Dean has built up a tremendous record in the Guineas, and Saturday gave him his fifth success in the Cape’s premier classic event.

Capetown Noir, who sold for R1 000 000 at the 2011 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale, is a son of Lammerskraal’s multiple champion sire, Western Winter.

An own brother to the high-class performer, Across The Ice, Capetown Noir is out of the Dubai classic placed mare, Akinfeet. The latter, in turn, is by champion sire Fort Wood out of former Cape Fillies Guineas winner, Dance Every Dance.

With the looks to match his pedigree and racetrack ability, Capetown Noir looks to be a colt out of the very top drawer.
