Cape Premier Yearling Sale catalogue online
The catalogue for the 2015 Cape Premier Yearling Sale is now available online.
Due to take place at the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), the Premier Yearling Sale will be held on January 22nd and 23rd.
The two day catalogue, which contains 200 lots, includes yearlings by the majority of South Africa’s top stallions.
Currently well clear on the 2014-2015 sires log, Dynasty has 17 exceptionally well bred yearlings on offer.
Dynasty sired yearlings bound to catch on the eye on this sale include:
Lot 13 – a filly out of champion Overarching
Lot 37 – a really nice bred filly out of Grade 1 winner and top producer Sarabande
Lot 113 – a daughter of former Champion 2YO Filly Consensual
Lot 145 – an own brother to top sprinter Daring Dave
Lot 152 – a half brother to a pair of top class horses in The Hangman and Trip To Heaven
Lot 176 – a half sister to European classic winner Evading Tempete, from the family of international champions and top sires Kris and Diesis
Other leading stallions well represented at the sale include Captain Al, Fort Wood, Kahal, Silvano, Trippi, Var and Western Winter.
Captain Al’s 20 strong draft includes a half sister to leading Met contender Helderburg Blue (Lot 12), a filly out of Grade 1 winner Roxanne (Lot 35), a colt out of a three parts sister to A P Indy (43) and a filly out of the top class Galileo mare Sidera (Lot 49) – to name but a few.
Fort Wood, a champion sire, broodmare sire and sire of sires, has a single lot on offer – a half brother to the very talented filly Wishful Eye (Lot 180). The now deceased sire Kahal, one of South Africa’s most consistent sires of high class performers, has a pair of lots catalogued for the sale, including a three parts brother to former Emperors Palace Ready To Run Cup hero Red Barrel (lot 28).
Former champion sire Silvano is an exceptional stallion whose progeny include a pair of Vodacom Durban July winners. The son of Lomitas has 13 on sale, including a colt out of former Fillies Guineas winner Pacific Blue (lot 14) and a full brother to talented stakes winner Sedge (Lot 46).
Top sire Trippi is enjoying an exceptional season in 2014-2015, with his runners including the brilliant 3yos Trip To Heaven and Zambezi River, as well as recent Fillies Guineas second Inara. The son of End Sweep has 14 well bred lots on offer, including colts out of the talented sprinters Mana Mou and Mocha Java, and a colt out of J&B Met winner Imperious Sue’s Gr1 winning daughter Imperious Star. Trippi’s draft also includes a half brother to former G1 Paddock Stakes winner Emerald Cove (lot 29), as well as a half brother to this season’s brilliant filly Cold As Ice (Lot 79).
Avontuur’s resident sire Var has long been established as one of South Africa’s best and most popular stallions. The brilliant Forest Wildcat horse has 16 yearlings up for offer, including a colt out of J&B Met winner River Jetez (lot 32), a half sister to Gr1 winner King Of Pain (Lot 80) and a full brother to star sprinter Normanz (lot 171).
Ill fated champion sire Western Winter will not have too many more yearlings for sale, and close attention should be paid to his 11 lots. They include a stunning half sister to Equus Champion and Dubai G1 winner Vercingetorix (Lot 3), a half sister to Gr1 winner Thunder Dance (lot 44) and a colt out of Gr1 Cape Fillies Guineas winner Field Flower (lot135).
Promising young sires represented on the sale include Mambo In Seattle and Seventh Rock – two of South Africa’s leading first crop sires of last season, while stallions with their first yearlings on offer include Bold Silvano, Curved Ball, Gimmethegreenlight, Gitano Hernando, Main Aim, Pathfork, Philanthropist, and Rock Of Rochelle.
Successful international stallions Bahamian Bounty, High Chaparral and New Approach also offer offerings on the sale, which will no doubt add further interest, while former star miler and Irish 2000 Guineas winner Canford Cliffs will have a member of his first crop on sale.
