The eight times champion sire of 2yos’ top lots sold were a pair of blue blooded colts which fetched R4.5 million apiece.

First of the Captain Al sired yearlings to make this price was lot 41, a colt out of former G1 Cape Fillies Guineas winner Ebony Flyer –herself a half sister to Captain Al’s G1 Cape Fillies Guineas winning champion Captain’s Lover (the latter herself had a Var daughter fetch R3.6 million on the first day of the Premier Sale.)

This blue blooded colt was knocked down to the bid of Bernard Marais.

David Redvers purchased the other R4.5 million Captain Al colt, who was produced by Oratorio’s dual G3 winning daughter Orator’s Daughter. The colt is the first foal of the mare, whose five wins included the G3 Acacia Handicap and G3 Jacaranda Handicap. Catalogued as lot 142, the son of Captain Al is from the same family as Hong Kong G1 winner Sight Winner.
