The Premier Sale has established itself as one of South Africa’s premier equine auctions, with a number of star graduates ensuring that the sale remains firmly in the spotlight.
Recent high class performers sold off the Premier Sale include the Equus Champions Always In Charge (Captain Al) and Cloth Of Cloud (Captain Al), as well as G3 Fillies Mile heroine Smiling Blue Eyes (Dynasty), and G2 Investec Dingaans hero Singapore Sling –to name a few.
The very exciting Horizon is another top class 3yo prospect to have been sold off this sale. (Both Smiling Blue Eyes and Horizon have siblings on offer this year).
Next year’s sale, which will be held at the Cape Town International Convention Centre on 21st and 22nd January, has attracted a superb catalogue of 237 lots.
South Africa’s elite sires are all strongly represented at the 2017 CPYS, with top sires Captain Al (22), Dynasty (10), Judpot (3), Silvano (19), Trippi (14) and Var (24) each having top class drafts on offer.
Some of the world’s top stallions have yearlings on offer at the 2017 Premier Sale, with the likes of Bernardini (1), Elusive Quality (1), Frankel (4), Rock of Gibraltar (10) and Scat Daddy (1).
Australian champion 2YO and G1 Golden Slipper winner Pierro (Lonhro) also has a lot on offer.
There are also a number of exciting young local sires with their first South African yearlings on offer –notably Duke Of Marmalade (19), Jackson (7), Master Of My Fate (4), Pomodoro (6), and Potala Palace (1).
Needless to say, the sale also contains many yearlings out of top class racemares/producers.
No fewer than 12 Grade One winning mares have offspring on the 2017 Cape Premier Yearling Sale, which will also offer siblings to such G1 winners as Afrikaburn, Divine Jury, Elusive Gold, Futura, Noah From Goa, Potala Palace, Russian Sage, Soft Falling Rain, Solo Traveller, Thunder Dance, and Wavin’ Flag.
