CBC race-day a smash hit!

The Cape Breeders Club held its annual luncheon at Kenilworth last Saturday, and once again it proved a hit with all who attended. Every year, the lunch has grown in both stature and popularity, and 2015 was no exception.

Guests, many of whom attended the event dressed to the nines for the theme of “A Dash Of Animal Print”, were treated to a host of various entertainment, including live music, face painting and a lavish wine competition. The latter saw one lucky guest win respective weight in wine – truly a handsome prize.

CBC offered a number of prizes to be awarded to the best dressed guests on the day, and the ladies prize went to the truly sumptuously dressed Jolanda Graaff, with Mr Du Toit picking up the male equivalent. Best dressed couple award was won by Wim and Lizanne Braak.

Cape Breeders also dominated the Kenilworth card, with Cape bred thoroughbreds triumphing in six of the nine races on the card.

The Cape Breeders Club would like to thank all the sponsors, who helped making the 2015 race day such an elegant and memorable occasions, these include Anthonij Rupert Wines, Avontuur Estate, Graham Beck Wines, Laborie Wine Estate and Milford Road Wines.

Safe to say, Saturday’s wines were savoured and much enjoyed!
Plenty of people put a lot of hard work and time into making the day such a success, especially Joy Armitage and Janine Koster, who supplied the decor.
Congratulations to everyone involved with this wonderful day out – and next year’s event has already been pencilled into many a calendar.

The only black spot on the day’s proceedings was the absence of loyal CBC supporters James and Joy Armitage, who had been involved in a car accident on the way to the races. Happily, both James and Joy are expected to make a full recovery.
