Champion Over’s first yearlings to impress at CPYS

Former European Champion Twice Over is one of the most exciting stallion prospects to come to South Africa in many a year.
An outstanding racehorse from the powerful Mr Prospector male line, Twice Over won or placed in no fewer than 12 of the world’s most important G1 races.
Europe’s Champion Older Male in 2010 and Champion Older Male in Britain a year earlier, Twice Over’s 12 victories netted more than £2.5 million –or over R38 million.

His wins included a pair of scores in the G1 Champion Stakes (won previously by such breed shaping sires as Bayardo, Court Martial, Nasrullah, Pharos, and Sir Ivor), the G1 Eclipse Stakes and G1 Juddmonte International with his wins coming over distances ranging from 1600 to 2100m.
The versatile Twice Over (described by late, great trainer Sir Henry Cecil as) also finished third to Horse Of The Year Zenyatta in the 2009 G1 Breeders Cup Classic on the pro-ride surface.

Horses beaten by Twice Over included such notable stars as Alpine Rose, Colonel John, Dar Rei Mi, Einstein, Fame And Glory, Girolamo, Midday, Mine That Bird, Poet’s Voice, Richard’s Kid, Sariska, Summer Bird, Virtual and French Derby hero Vision D’Etat.

Twice Over also hails from a red hot female line, with his relatives including 2015’s top European \ performers Antonoe and Time Test, as well as such notable G1 winners All At Sea, Banshee Breeze, Passage Of Time and Timepiece.

Now Twice Over’s first crop of yearlings look set to take centre stage. The champion has 18 superbly bred yearlings set to go under the hammer at next month’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale –and they will be the first Twice Over yearlings ever offered at public auction!

Lot 3 –one of the best bred fillies on sale, this is a half sister to European classic winner Evading Tempete. This is the family as Klawervlei’s leading sire Count Dubois, Irish 2000 Guineas winner Indian Haven and the great champions and sires Diesis and Kris

Lot 13 –a colt whose siblings include the useful filly House Of Lorraine. This is the famous Party Time family responsible for numerous stars over the years including champion In The Fast Lane, who recently sold at Tattersalls December Mare Sale

Lot 22 –a colt out of the superbly, three time winner Mars Star. The latter is a daughter of champion sire and top broodmare sire Giant’s Causeway –and hails from one of the finest families in the stud book –namely that of Natalma
Lot 26 –is a colt whose stakes placed dam Mink Coat is a half sister to G1 Summer Cup winner Flirtation
Lot 58 –is a filly bred to be anything. She is out of a half sister to G1 Prix Maurice de Gheest winner King’s Apostle and from the family of champion fillies Embassy and Pass The Peace

Lot 80 –inbred to the mighty miler and sire Blushing Groom, this colt is out of a half sister to G1 Cape Guineas victor Pointing North. This is also the family of top sprinters Blue Tiger and Rodoille
Lot 86 –is a filly out of champion sire Galileo’s top class daughter Sidera. The latter won the G3 Fillies Mile and her relatives include dual G2 King’s Stand Stakes winner and sire Elbio
Lot 90 –is a daughter of the G1 placed mare Six Blue Notes, by highly successful broodmare sire Qui Danzig. This filly is from the famed Let Kiss family and her relatives include champion and leading sire Jay Peg and former Equus Champion 2YO Kochka
Lot 128 –is a colt whose siblings include the useful winners Bermuda Sloop and Equity Kicker. His dam is a three time winning half sister to G1 Premier’s Champion Stakes winner Exhilaration
Lot 142 –Inbred both to the legendary Blushing Groom and French Derby winner Caerleon, this colt is out of a stakes placed half sister to high class performers Jet Set Go and Jet Trail. His second dam is the top class Azabu Park, a stakes winner of ten races
Lot 144 –this colt is out of a winning daughter of champion sire Western Winter and G1 Paddock Stakes winner Angelina. His other relatives include none other than Horse Of The Year Futura, a leading contender for the Cape’s biggest races this season
Lot 159 –out of the smart stakes placed mare Bellotto Flash, this colt is closely inbred to one of history’s greatest sires in Mr Prospector, and this is the same family as numerous high class Australian gallopers
Lot 168 –is a colt out of Captain Al’s G2 winning daughter Captain’s Call. A direct descendant of G1 SA Fillies Sprint winner Lady Mollison, this colt is inbred to Epsom Derby winner and outstanding sire Roberto

Lot 178 – out of a mare by Breeders Cup Mile winner and outstanding broodmare sire Royal Academy, this filly’s third dam is multiple G1 winner Sangue, and her relatives include none other than the outstanding sire Candy Stripes as well as the latter’s champion half brother Bubble Gum Fellow
Lot 184 –this is a half brother to talented filly Eros’s Girl, a good third in the recent G3 Magnolia Hcp. His dam is a full sister to multiple G1 winnner Ebony Flyer and a half sister to the Captain Al sired champion Captain’s Lover. His second dam is Broodmare Of The Year Sunshine Lover
Lot 239 –this beautifully bred filly is out of a six times stakes winning Giant’s Causeway mare. Related to numerous top performers, she hails from the family as charismatic star Sergeant Cecil.

Lot 250 –a half sister to the promising Smart Mart, this well related filly is out of Ladies Mile runner up Joyful Dancer. This is the family of star filly Joshua’s Princess and former G1 Cape Derby hero Grande Jete
