The running of this weekend’s British classics were a boon for Ascot Stud’s well performed young sire Global View.
Global View is a son of Galileo, whose son Churchill won Saturday’s G1 QIPCO 2000 Guineas to take his tally to six wins from just seven outings, with the Guineas being his third G1 success.
Just one day on from Churchill’s classic success, the magnificent Galileo added to his remarkable run when daughters Winter and Rhododendron ran 1-2 in the QIPCO 1000 Guineas. Last year, Galileo was broodmare sire of 2000 Guineas winner Galileo Gold, while Galileo fillies Minding, Ballydoyle and Alice Springs filled the first three spots in the 1000 Guineas.
Churchill, a third 2000 Guineas winner for Galileo, is bred on the same Galileo/ Storm Cat cross as Global View himself. This cross as also resulted in former 2000 Guineas winner Gleneagles, as well as G1 winners Misty For Me, Ballydoyle and Marvellous.
Global View’s broodmare sire Storm Cat also made news in the US –he is the broodmare sire of Bodemeister, whose son Always Dreaming won the 2017 G1 Kentucky Derby. To date, Storm Cat mares have produced more than 230 stakes winners including outstanding US sire Speightstown.
A multiple graded winner, whose wins included the G2 American Turf Stakes and G3 Generous Stakes, Global View is a covering sire on lots at both the Cape Mare Sale and the Mares, Weanlings & Fillies For Stud Select Sale.
