Classy 2yo winner for Philanthropist

Drakenstein Stud’s exciting young sire Philanthropist has made a cracking start to his stud career. The son of Kris’s early first crop South African runners include debut winner Good To Give, and the promising fillies Sail and She’s A Giver. The latter has been entered in the G3 Strelitzia Stakes, to be run at Scottsville on May 1st.

Philanthropist was represented by another first crop winner when his daughter Flash Fire got up to win over 1400m at Scottsville for trainer Vaughan Marshall (who owns the 2yo filly in partnership with Lawrence Pillay).
Bred by Klawervlei Stud, Flash Fire, who had looked unlucky on debut, was always handy and she hit the front at the 200m and held on well to win a good race.

North America’s Leading Sire on Synthetics in 2014, Philanthropist has a cracking draft on offer at this week’s National Yearling Sale.

His 16 blue blooded yearlings include a colt out of former Equus Champion Circle Of Life (Lot 37), a stunning half brother to champions In The Fast Lane and Let’s Rock ‘N Roll (Lot 91), a colt (inbred to mighty mare Grey Flight) out of G3 Poinsettia Stakes winner Milden Magic (Lot 211), a colt out of a G3 winning daughter of Western Winter (Lot 233), a half brother to devastating debut winner Red Chesnut Road (Lot 312), and a filly out of G2 SA Fillies Nursery winner Waywest Goddess (Lot 412).
