Boland Stud will be offering a half brother to a potential Grade One candidate at the upcoming Sibaya KZN Yearling Sale, which takes place at Sibaya Casino in Durban on June 30th and July 1st this year.
The colt in question is a half brother to impressive recent debut winning 2yo Poster Girl (by Kingmambo sire Ashaawes) –herself a R100 000 purchase from last year’s KZN Yearling Sale.
Her three parts brother, by the blue blooded Kingmambo sire Mambo In Seattle, is lot 79 at this year’s sale, and is a colt no serious buyer can afford to over look.
Mambo In Seattle, himself a stakes winner who was placed in both the G1 Jockey Club Gold Cup and G1 Travers Stakes, has made a fantastic start to his stud career.
The sire, whose three parts brother, and US champion, Lemon Drop Kid has sired over 80 stakes winners to date, is the sire of former KZN buy Same Jurisdiction –a dual G1 winner and millionaire, who has won or placed in five Grade One races to date.
Mambo In Seattle, whose first crop include five stakes horses, is also the sire of one of this season’s top rated 3yos Mambo Mime, winner of the G3 Byerley Turk and a close up third in the recent G2 Canon Guineas. He is also currently regarded as a leading contender for the R4.25 million G1 Vodacom Durban July.
The sire is one of the best bred stallions in Africa, with his G1 placed dam Weekend In Seattle a full sister to Horse Of The Year and dual US champion sire A P Indy. This is also the family of champion US sire Raja Baba, and the top class South African sires Al Mufti (sire of Captain Al), Sportsworld and Tiger Ridge.
Boland’s Mambo In Seattle colt is out of the Model Man mare Golden Glamour- a half sister to the smart juvenile Qui Success, who was third in the G2 Fillies Nursery. From the same family as this season’s high class 3yo Madame Dubois (who has been exported to race in the USA), this colt also hails from the same family as former Argentinian champion South Vagabunda.
