Maine Chance Farms (vendors of the R5.2 million record breaking yearling at this year’s Cape Premier Yearling Sale) are proud to offer two spectacular drafts at the inaugural Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale and National Yearling Sales respectively.
The stud will be offering eight high quality lots at Saturday’s Select Yearling Sale, scheduled to get underway at Emperors Palace Casino at 18:00 pm.
First of the Maine Chances’ draft into the ring will be lot 3, a bay son of the farm’s resident champion Silvano.
He is half brother to four winners, including a stakes placed winner, who was sired by Silvano’s half brother Sabiango. This is the immediate family of numerous top class performers including former successful Varsfontein sire Caesour. Silvano is also the sire of lot 42, a beautifully bred filly out of former G1 SA Fillies Classic winner Zaitoon, and this filly hails from the same family as former Kentucky Derby winner Winning Colors as well as top US sire Chief’s Crown.
Silvano’s champion and July winning son Bold Silvano is also represented in this draft, as the sire of 31, a colt out of a half sister to four stakes winners.
Second into the ring is a Gitano Hernando filly, catalogued as lot 17. This well bred filly, a half sister to three winners, is out of a winning daughter of former Champion Two-Year-Old Scented Royal and is from an outstanding family responsible for numerous top class speedsters.
Lot 25 is a son of the ill-fated legend Horse Chestnut, whose offspring have fared well in both North America and South Africa. This well bred colt, whose dam is a half sister to G1 Queen’s Plate winner Crimson Waves, is a half brother to four winners including the highly promising 2yo Querari.
Leading sire Var is the sire of two lots in this draft – a half sister to talented stakes performer Platinum Cat, and from the family of champion Model Man, is catalogued as lot 68, while the sire’s other representative here, is lot 108, a beautifully bred half brother to a pair of sprinting stars in Mocha Java and Mochachino respectively.
The now deceased Western Winter, a triple champion sire, is responsible for lot 30, a chestnut half brother to four winners. This classically bred colt is related to numerous black type performers including former French Derby winner Roi Lear.
Maine Chance has a large draft of 24 yearlings on offer at next week’s National Yearling Sale.
Former globetrotting star and dual G1 winner Gitano Hernando is the sire of five of the Maine Chance draft. The $2 million earner is responsible for lot 2, a half sister to six winners, including Graded winners Sevillano and Herod The Great, lot 26 a colt very closely related to high class G2 performer Act Fast and from an outstanding international family, and 81, a half brother to three decent winners and closely related to successful South African sire Toreador.
The handsome Gitano Hernando is also the sire of lots 424 (a filly from the family of champions Dancing Duel and Olympic Duel), and lot 449, a filly whose dam is a half sister to former champion racemare.
As is expected, resident champion Silvano is well represented in the draft, with his lots including a beautifully bred half sister to recent debut winner Champery (catalogued as lot 88). This bay is out of a half sister to US G1 winner Eden’s Moon from an outstanding family.
Other lots of interest by Silvano include a daughter of Giant’s Causeway’s stakes winning daughter Illumiere (Lot 197), a half sister to two stakes winners (Lot 223) and a half brother to G3 King’s Cup winner Pirate’s Gold (Lot 388).
Promising young sire Querari, himself a G1 winning son of sire sensation Oasis Dream, has made a fine start with his first runners this season and he has four lots in the Maine Chance draft. Querari’s yearlings include a beautifully bred son of former Olympic Duel Stakes winner Warrior Maid (Lot 4), and a granddaughter of former champion Scented Royal (Lot 379).
Maine Chance Farms’ promising young sire Lateral is another to have made a superb start at stud, with his first crop producing the likes of G1 winning filly Bilteral and highly rated Dingaans winner Unparalleled. He has three well related yearlings in the draft, including a superbly bred own sister to the useful Zoo Biscuit (Lot 21), and a colt out of a half sister to former G1 Champions Cup winner James Jaguar (Lot 22).
Black Minnaloushe is a sire more than capable of siring an outstanding racehorse, with his offspring including such as Breeders Cup Sprint hero Dancing In Silks and SASCOC Triple Crown winner Louis The King. The son of Storm Cat has three in Maine Chances’ stellar draft, namely a filly out of a winning daughter of champion Donatella (Lot 204), a half sister to the highly rated Love Token (Lot 236), and a bay colt from the wonderful Lily family (Lot 249). This colt’s relatives include the likes of Fort Defiance, Ravishing, Red Badge and Villandry to name but a few.
Former Queen’s Plate winner Gimmethegreenlight has been really well supported in his first seasons at stud, and he has a cracking son to his credit in the form of lot 351. Named Racethegreenlight, this is a half brother to talented sprinter Romantic Moon, and he is out of a half sister to former G1 winner and top sprinter All Will Be Well.
With their draft also including yearlings by such high class sires as Elusive Fort, Horse Chestnut and Mambo In Seattle, Maine Chance Farms look sure to enjoy yet more sales ring success!
