Cracking first books for Flower Alley, Soft Falling Rain

Wilgerbosdrift’s exciting new stallions Flower Alley and Soft Falling Rain are both set to cover some exceptional mares in the 2015 breeding season.

Former G1 Travers Stakes winner Flower Alley, a son of champion US sire Distorted Humor, is the only stallion to have sired a G1 Kentucky Derby winner and stand at stud in South Africa. The stallion, whose son Lukes Alley was named Canada’s Champion Older Male in 2014, has proved extremely popular since arriving in South Africa.

His stable mate, and former Equus Champion 2YO Soft Falling Rain, has been exceptionally well received since retiring to stud. The handsome son of National Assembly, who hails from a truly spectacular North American female line, is set to cover a top class full book of mares in his first season at stud.
Soft Falling Rain’s first mates look set to include the brilliant sprinter and multiple G1 winner Alboran Sea, champion 2yo Laverna (whose dam is a G1 winning daughter of National Assembly), champion Ilha Da Vitoria’s stakes winning daughter Ilha Grande, former G1 SA Fillies Sprint winner Rat Burana, Dynasty’s Oaks placed own sister Clandestine, and former G1 winner and July runner up Zirconeum.

Soft Falling Rain will also cover the likes of Kapil’s G2 placed half sister Lady Be Quick, Var’s stakes winning daughter Esterel, Gr3 winner Sarasota and the top class mare Stormy Coast.
The latter, a seven time stakes winner herself, is a daughter of champion sire and broodmare sire Fort Wood and the popular East Cape champion Stormy Appeal.
