Cracking first crop yearlings from outstanding miler

Cracking first crop yearlings from outstanding miler
The Gary Player Stud Farm is home to the exciting young sire Noordhoek Flyer – whose first crop are yearlings in 2014.

Noordhoek Flyer has a strong draft of yearlings on offer at the 2014 Emperors Palace National Yearling – where there should be plenty of interest in youngsters sired by this cracking miler.

Noordhoek Flyer was an exceptionally talented racehorse. The magnificent chestnut won over R1 000 000 during his racing career, and, like dual Horse Of The Year Variety Club, pulled off the Gr1 Cape Guineas/Gr2 KRA Guineas double. The finest miler of his generation, Noordhoek Flyer has a pedigree to match.

He is one of 24 Gr1 winners sired by Gr1 Nunthorpe Stakes winner Pivotal. Pivotal’s 100 plus stakes winners include such champions as Sariska, Somnus, Golden Apples, Excellent Art, Buzzword, Saoire, Siyouni, and leading sire Kyllachy.

One of Pivotal’s finest sons is the 2014 Gr1 Dubai World Cup winner African Story. The latter is closely related to Noordhoek Flyer himself, as both horses are sons of Pivotal and both are descendants of champion filly Mesopotamia.

Noordhoek Flyer is from a tremendous family. Like world leading sire Invincible Spirit, he is out of a mare by champion sire Kris, and his relatives include G1 winners and champions Cherokee Rose, Mastery, Kirklees, Halling and champion sire Volksraad.

Noordhoek Flyer, one of the finest looking stallions around, has already enjoyed success in the sales ring. At the 2014 March Yearling Sale, a filly by Noordhoek Flyer fetched R280 000.

He has an exceptional draft of 10 yearlings on offer at the National Sale. They include a colt out of champion Monyela, and a filly out of top-class stakes winner Heat Of The Moment.

Noordhoek Flyer’s National yearlings also include this filly (pictured) out of the stakes placed mare Muvango. The filly on offer is a half-sister to the promising filly Love Vivien – who was third in the Gr3 Acacia Handicap. Catalogued as lot 467, this filly’s third dam is the top-class mare Chinatown.

Lot 359 is another superbly bred daughter of Noordhoek Flyer. Her dam, Irresistible Chris, is a Mark of Esteem half-sister to champion, and July winner, Eyeofthetiger, as well as high-class G2 winner Best Chris. This filly already has tremendous paddock value!

A striking colt sired by the dual Guineas winner is lot 394. This colt is out of an Elliodor half-sister to July runner Superwood, and this is the wonderful Soho Secret family, in the headlines this year through the deeds of Met favourite Master Of My Fate.
