A daughter of the former South African Horse Of The Year and Cheveley Stud sire London News made headlines in North America on Saturday.

Former Gr2 KRA Fillies Guineas winner Sally Bowles, a daughter of London News and Foveros mare Eligible Dancer, has come up with a really exciting prospect in the form of recent graded stakes winner Consumer Credit.

The latter, a daughter of More Than Ready (also sire of former L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winner and exciting young Cape sire Gimmethegreenlight), made it three turf wins on the trot with a convincing one length score in Saturday’s Gr3 Sweetest Chant Stakes at Gulfstream Park.

Making her first foray into Graded stakes company, Consumer Credit took her tally to three wins from five outings with a professional one length score in the 1600 mile race and she looks destined for bigger things. The lightly raced filly, who hails from the barn of leading US trainer Chad Brown, had previously scored a good win in the Wait A While Stakes and was duly dispatched a 9-5 favourite for Saturday’s Sweetest Chant.

Her dam, Sally Bowles, who raced in the famous Team Valor silks, was a top class performer in South Africa. The Neil Bruss trained filly defeated a high-class field when successful in the Gr2 KRA Fillies Guineas of 2007 –where the defeated fillies included subsequent J&B Met winner River Jetez, champion Sun Classique, as well as Grade 1 winners Ethereal Lady, Outcome and Royal Fantasy.
Sally Bowles is also the dam of the stakes placed Proud Citizen colt London Citizen and winning Curlin son Larrymoeandcurlin.

Consumer Credit was purchased for $185,000 at the 2013 Keeneland September sale and the dark bay RNA’ed for $130,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Florida March two-year-old sale last spring.
