Debut winner for Deputy

Lammerskraal Stud’s successful sire Go Deputy was represented by an eye catching debut winner at the Vaal racecourse on Thursday.

His 2yo son Full Mast, a R500 000 buy from last year’s National Yearling Sale, made a winning debut for trainer Mike Azzie, also responsible for Go Deputy’s son Abashiri to land the Triple Crown, when scoring by 0.6 of a length, over favourite Battle Front, over 1400m.

It was another two lengths back to third place finisher Skiminac.

In the process, the Lammerskraal Stud bred Full Mast further enhanced his sire’s tremendous strike with his two-year-olds this season.

Go Deputy has been represented by just three two-year-old runners in 2016-2017, but they include two winners as well as Listed East Cape Fillies Nursery runner up Widow’s Lamp. The latter holds an entry in the Listed Champion Juvenile Cup next month and she is currently one of the top 2yos racing in the Eastern Cape.

A millionaire and G1 winner, Go Deputy has enjoyed another good season in 2016-2017, with his runners including such graded stakes winners as Icy Trail and Royal Badge. The latter is one of two Go Deputy sons, along with Go Direct, set to line up in Saturday week’s G3 Betting World 2200 on July day.
