Deputy sophomores continue to impress

Lammerskraal Stud’s inform sire Go Deputy has a tremendously exciting group of three-year-olds representing him this season.
From a small crop of runners (he has just 31 registered 3yos this season), Go Deputy’s 19 sophomore runners have produced 12 runners to either win or place.

His three-year-olds include the very exciting Abashiri, third in last season’s G1 Premier’s Champion Stakes and a leading contender for Saturday’s G2 Investec Dingaans. Another promising performer from this crop is Listed Devon Air Stakes winner Flying Ice, a good fourth in the recent G2 Choice Carriers Fillies Championship. Flying Ice, who has won or placed in four of her five outings to date, will jump from barrier 3 in next week’s G1 World Sports Betting Cape Fillies Guineas.

Other promising three-year-olds representing Go Deputy this season include recent Listed KZN Guineas Trial third place finisher Rap Attack (who has won or placed in three of just four outings) and the Sandown Stud bred Royal Badge. The latter made it two wins from just four outings when beating some tough older rivals over 1600m at Kenilworth on Wednesday.

A three parts brother to the recently deceased G1 Kentucky Oaks winner Keeper Hill, Go Deputy stands for a 2015 stud fee of R20 000.
