Mauritzfontein Stud’s beautifully bred Ideal World’s second crop, now two, have made certainly made a flying start out of the starting stalls.
The son of Kingmambo has been represented by just two juveniles to start this season thus far, but both his 2yo runners have finished in the money.
Ideal World’s two-year-old tally includes a really smart looking sort in the form of Persian Rug, who scored an eye catching debut win at Greyville last Friday evening.
Backed down to start an even money favourite for a maiden juvenile plate over 1400m, Persian Rug duly lived up to her status as race favourite with a facile three and three quarter length romp.
Clearly above average, this Mike de Kock trained filly looks sure to go on to bigger and better things with Persian Rug appearing to be the latest good sort to represent her sire.
Bred by Mauritzfontein Stud, Persian Rug (who has a Gimmethegreenlight half sister on sale at the 2015 National Yearling Sale), is out of the Fort Wood mare Queen Of Persia.
Sire Ideal World has certainly made a pleasing start to his stud career, with the close relative of world leading sire Dansili’s first crop runners including the classic placed filly Smart Call, feature race winning sprinter Amazing Strike, and the promising Zante, a winner of two of her last three outings.
Ideal World, a son of champions Kingmambo and Banks Hill, was popular in the sales ring in 2014, when his offspring fetched up to R550 000, and, no doubt, there will be plenty of interest in his yearlings going through the various sales rings in the coming weeks.
His sole lot on offer at this week’s Emperors Palace Select Yearling Sale is a half brother to star sprinters August Rush and Miss October (Lot 49), while Ideal World’s 12 strong draft at this month’s National Yearling Sale includes a half sister to feature race winner General Sherman (Lot 10), a filly out of a half sister to champions Pocket Power and River Jetez (Lot 268), and a stunning half brother, named Imperator, to multiple Grade One winner Futura (Lot380).
