Maine Chance Farms’ resident sire Silvano will be represented by a top class performer in Saturday’s G2 Quayclean Zipping Classic, to be run at Sandown in Australia.
His daughter Do You Remember, formerly with the Geoff Woodruff stable in South Africa, will make her second Australian racetrack appearance in this $300 000 contest.
The former G1 winner, who finished ninth of 11 first time out in the G3 G1x.Com.Au Stakes, is one of eight runners for the 2400m contest, which is named in honour of the wonderful gelding Zipping. The latter won 13 races, including the G2 Sandown Classic on no less than four occasions.
Now trained by Peter Moody (who also saddled the legendary Black Caviar), Do You Remember will be partnered by Vlad Duric in Saturday’s race.
Bred and raced by Michael De Broglio, Do You Remember was one of three nominees for Equus Award as Champion 3YO Filly in 2013. The filly won or placed in ten of her 13 local races, with her career highlight coming in landing the G1 Woolavington 2000. Do You Remember also finished third to Heavy Metal in the 2013 G1 Vodacom Durban July, and was also placed in all three legs of the Triple Tiara.
Out of former G2 SA Oaks winner Festive Occasion, Do You Remember is one of 15 G1 winners for Silvano.
Her sire has enjoyed a purple patch of late, with his winners including the brilliant G2 Choice Carriers Fillies Championship winner Silver Mountain.
