Double award glory for Judpot progeny

Varsfontein Stud’s resident sire Judpot enjoyed a notable double at Saturday’s Highveld Feature Season Awards ceremony.
The blue blooded son of A P Indy is the sire of both Deputy Jud (Champion Sand Specialist) and Juxtapose (Champion three year old filly) who combined to pick up a pair of awards.

Deputy Jud, bred by Jaco and Carolyn Erasmus, scored his major win in the G2 Supreme Cup –the last ever running of that R1 000 000 contest on sand. The versatile Deputy Jud (he was also second in the G1 SA Derby over 2450m), has banked over R1 300 000 for owners Adriaan and Rika Van Vuuren.

His paternal half sister, Juxtapose, a leading contender for Equus Award honours, established herself as one of the leaders of her generation with wins in both the G1 Wilgerbosdrift SA Fillies Classic and G2 WIlgerbosdrift SA Oaks.
The Varsfontein Stud bred filly, a bargain R130 000 buy from the 2014 National Sale, has won or placed in seven of her eight starts to date and banked R1 429 125 in stakes.

Judpot, a half brother to world leading sire Kingmambo and dual French classic winner East Of The Moon, is enjoying yet another good season and is currently South African’s seventh leading sire by stakes and the country’s fifth leading sire of 3yos (by stakes).

He has 12 lots on offer at next month’s Sibaya KZN Yearling Sale:
