Double for Dubois

Klawervlei Stud’s highly successful sire Count Dubois has enjoyed a great run of success with his progeny of late, and the G1 winning son of Zafonic was at it again this past weekend.

Count Dubois had a pair of eye catching winners on Saturday, with the Boland Stud bred Social Order creating a huge impression when winning as he liked on debut at Turffontein on Gauteng Guineas day.

Owned by Bernard Kantor and Chris Van Niekerk, Social Order simply romped home to win as he liked for trainer Sean Tarry and jockey S’Manga Khumalo. The gelding put four and three quarters between himself and runner up Zip Line –no mean feat over a trip of just 1160 metres!

Tarry is no stranger to training progeny of Count Dubois, with his past top performers including the former Equus Champion French Navy and he looks to have another nice Count Dubois sired runner on his hands here!
Social Order is also another great advert for the Klawervlei Farm Sale, as he was a R200 000 buy from the 2015 Farm Sale (also responsible for G1 Investec Cape Derby winner Edict Of Nantes).

Second of the Count Dubois progeny to score on Saturday was the Klawervlei Stud bred Lady Vogue who broke her maiden in convincing style for trainer Piet Steyn (also a part-owner) and owners Dr de Villiers, Messrs Dunbar and Johnstone.

Count Dubois has enjoyed another good season with his top performers this season including the aforementioned, brilliant Klawervlei Farm Sale graduate Edict Of Nantes. Already an earner of nearly R1 000 000, the Klawervlei Stud bred colt may well be aimed at the G1 Vodacom Durban July later in this season.

His sire has two lots on offer at the March Yearling Sale – a half-sister to Listed Summer Juvenile Stakes winner Only Emily (Lot 3), and a filly out of a Silvano ½ sister to champion Tatler, from the family of this season’s star 3yo filly Just Sensual (Lot 234).
