Dynasty takes high order
Highlands Farm’s resident sire Dynasty had a truly remarkable year in 2014.
His success at the highest level ensured that the former Horse Of The Year took high ranking – not just in South Africa terms, but also on a global platform.
Dynasty, whose runners collected eight Grade 1 prizes during 2014, ended last year as one of the world’s leading sires of Grade 1 races.
His tally of eight Grade 1 victories placed Dynasty in elite company – he finished just behind the likes of Galileo (13), Deep Impact (11), Scat Daddy (11) and Put It Back (9) and ahead of some of the world’s very best stallions.
Remarkably, Dynasty’s eight G1 wins placed him above such champion sires as Tapit (7), Redoute’s Choice (7), Dansili (5) and Dubawi (5). Heady company indeed for this locally bred superstar!
His four individual Grade 1 winners of 2014 also put the champion son of Fort Wood on a par with Shamardal, Montjeu, High Chaparral and Fastnet Rock, while his tally also places Dynasty above Tapit, Sea The Stars, Danehill Dancer and Bernardini –all of whom were represented by a trio of individual Grade/Group 1 winners in 2014.
Currently South Africa’s leading sire of 2013-2014 (with his offspring having earned over R6.7 million this season), Dynasty’s stock could rise yet further this weekend, with his champion son Legislate a hot favourite to win Saturday’s Grade 1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate.
