Varsfontein Stud’s resident stallion Judpot (A P Indy – Miesque) has made an exceptional start to his stud career. His consistent daughter, Along Came Polly, gave her sire a second Gr1 winner from his first crop of juveniles, when she saluted in Saturday’s Gr1 Thekwini Stakes.
A R60 000 yearling buy, Along Came Polly (who has won or placed in four features this season), has now earned over R600 000 for owner Brian Burnard.

She looks a prime contender for an Equus Award next month.

Another of Judpot’s offspring, the Gr1 winner Forest Indigo, ran second in another Grade One feature on Saturday – the Gr1 Premier’s Champion Stakes. Like Along Came Polly, Forest Indigo was bred by Varsfontein, and he has now earned

He too could be a contender for Equus glory.

Judpot had another impressive winner on the weekend, when his son, Stirling Road, made an easy winning debut at Borrowdale on Sunday.

Now the sire of eight winners, Judpot’s first crop of foals have, thus far, included four stakes horses, as well as the impressive, unbeaten filly Sweetwater.
