Maine Chance Farms’ promising young sire Querari, named the Cape’s Outstanding New Stallion last season, has a pedigree very much in the news.
His sire Oasis Dream, one of the world’s best stallions, has enjoyed another excellent season in 2015. The former sprint king has been represented by 11 individual stakes winners this year and had a group race double at Longchamp this weekend.
His talented son Free Port Lux landed the G2 Qatar Prix Dollar on Saturday over a field which included the seven time G1 winner Cirrus Des Aigles, while the very next day, Oasis Dream’s G1 King Stand Stakes winner Golddream picked up his second G1 sprint this year when victorious in the Qatar Prix de L’Abbaye over a field of Europe’s top sprinters.
Oasis Dream, whose son Muhaarar is currently the Cartier Champion Sprinter elect having won three Group 1 sprints in 2015, is currently represented by 97 individual stakes winners including 14 G1 winners. The son of Green Desert (also sire of outstanding sires Cape Cross and Invincible Spirit) is currently seventh on the GB general sires list, with his runners having earned over £1.8 million in 2015.
Querari’s female line is enjoying equal success. His three parts brother Quasillo won the G3 Bavarian Classic this year, while Queenie (by Areion), whose third dam Quebrada is the classic winning second dam of Querari, won Sunday’s G3 Grosser Preis der Landeshauptstadt Dusseldorf.
Winner of the G1 Premio Presidente Repubblica over a star studded field, Querari (whose son La Favourari ran a promising second on debut on Saturday) made a most impressive start to his stud career last season. His 17 individual runners to date include 12 winners including the undefeated G2 winner Cosmic Light, as well as the high class stakes performers Champery, Dynamic Speed and the G1 Thekwini Stakes runner up Melliflora.
