Fate brother scores in Dubai
Need To Know, a half brother to Varsfontein Stud’s promising young sire Master Of My Fate, scored the fourth win of his career in Dubai last Saturday.
A son of Western Winter, Need To Know, making his seasonal debut in Dubai, landed a handicap over a mile in facile fashion. Sent off as the 2-1 favourite, the 6yo gelding bounded clear to win by two and a quarter lengths, while giving runner up Mawhub four pounds.
His half brother, Master Of My Fate (by Jet Master), has made a successful start to his stud career this season. A very fertile stallion, Master Of My Fate has proven a pleasure to deal with, and the former Gr2 Premier’s Trophy hero is busy covering an excellent first book of mares.
The talented half brothers, both bred by Varsfontein, are out of ill fated Equus Champion Promisefrommyheart, who sadly died earlier this year.
Both were pricey yearling purchases, with Need To Know a R950 000 buy from the 2010 Emperors Palace National 2YO Sale, and his younger brother a R3 million purchase off the 2011 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.
