Feature race double for Jay Peg

Hemel ‘n Aarde Stud’s successful resident sire Jay Peg enjoyed a notable sprinting feature race double over the past weekend.
First Jay Peg sired runner to land a feature race win was Omega Onslaught, who made it three wins on the bounce when running out a facile three length winner of Friday’s Glendore Sprint over 1000m.

Bred by Klawervlei Stud, and trained by Tara Laing, the five-year-old landed his first feature race win in eye catching style, and has now five wins (all over 1000m) to his credit.

Jay Peg is also responsible for Saturday’s G2 World Sports Betting Cape Merchants winner Silicone Valley, who produced a fine turn of foot to mow down some top-class opposition to win Saturday’s 1200m sprint by three parts of a length going away.

Among the notables beaten by Silicone Valley were the Equus Champions Always In Charge and Marinaresco, last year’s Cape Merchants winner Search Party and fellow graded stakes winners Al Mariachi, Brutal Force, Dutch Philip, Heartland, Sergeant Hardy and Tevez.

Trained by Glen Puller and bred by Klawervlei Stud, Silicone Valley had been runner up in last year’s Cape Merchants.
Saturday was a first graded win for the gelding, who has now banked earnings of R784 925.
