Feature race glory for Duke Of Marmalade half brother

Drakenstein Stud’s top class sire Duke Of Marmalade gained yet another boost to his impeccable female line over the past weekend.
His half-brother Annus Mirabilis (by Montjeu) landed the Listed Bagot Handicap while making his fourth career outing for trainer Stuart Webb.

Ridden by the in-form Regan Bayliss, Annus Mirabilis was sent out the $3.60 favourite before scoring a 2-1/4 length victory over Anemoi ($21) with Thunder Teddington ($10) three-quarters-of-a-length away third.

Annus Mirabilis, who will now be aimed at the Adelaide Cup, has now won four times and should not stop here.

He is out of the stakes placed mare Love Me True –herself a three-parts sister to US champion and leading sire Lemon Drop Kid.

Love Me True has now produced three stakes winners, including Cartier Champion (and five time G1 winner) Duke Of Marmalade) and former G1 Investec Derby winner, and Coolmore sire, Ruler Of The World.

She is also dam of the high class performer Giovanni Canaletto –who was third in the G1 Irish Derby and fourth in the G1 Investec Derby.

Duke Of Marmalade, a proven sire of high class performers, is the sire of more than 50 stakes horses to date.
