Drakenstein Stud are delighted to announce that their two champion new sires Futura and Legislate have both had their first mares test in foal.
Royal Trip is the first mare tested in foal to Futura while Legislate’s first mates in foal include Timetogoby.
Listed Nkosazana Stakes winner Royal Trip is a daughter of South African champion sire, and fellow Drakenstein Stud sire, Trippi –broodmare sire of Saturday’s brilliant G3 Iroquois Stakes winner, and potential Triple Crown contender, Not This Time.
Timetogoby, a winning daughter of seven time feature race winner La Brea Pits, hails from the mighty Best In Show family –responsible for such legends as Rags To Riches, Northern Guest, El Gran Senor, Grey Swallow, Redoute’s Choice, and Highlands’ exciting young sire, and former Irish Champion, Pathfork.
Both Futura and Legislate were named Horse of The Year in South Africa, and both are four time G1 winning sons of outstanding Cape sire Dynasty.
Dual G1 Champions Cup hero Futura won nine times from 1200-2000m, with his victories including both the G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate and G1 J&B Met of 2015.
The Cheveley Stud bred Legislate, South African Horse Of The Year in 2014, is a track record holder for a mile at Kenilworth. The champ’s seven wins included the G1 Investec Cape Derby, G1 Vodacom Durban July, G1 Rising Sun Gold Challenge and G1 Daily News 2000 and Legislate banked more than R5.7 million in prize money.
