First runner for Flyer
Former Cape Guineas winner Noordhoek Flyer is set to have his first runner at Turffontein on Tuesday evening.
His first crop daughter Inca Lily is set to debut over 1000m for trainer Chris Erasmus – and there will be plenty of interest in this daughter of the former dual Guineas winner.
A R2.5 million buy from the 2008 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale, Noordhoek Flyer was an outstanding athlete who proved one of the best of his generation.
He won both the Gr1 Cape Guineas and Gr2 KRA Guineas, and also ran second to subsequent Equus Champion (and J&B Met winner) Past Master in the Gr2 Selangor Cup of 2009. Noordhoek Flyer also ran second to Bravura, and ahead of champions Bold Silvano and Irish Flame, in the Gr1 Investec Cape Derby of his year.
A son of world leading sire Pivotal (the sire of sensational young French sire Siyouni), Noordhoek Flyer hails from an outstanding female line.
His family has produced numerous top class performers including exciting young Irish sire Rip Van Winkle, champion New Zealand sire Volksraad and the 2014 African World Cup hero African Story.
The latter is very closely related to Noordhoek Flyer – both being sons of Pivotal, and both tracing back in female line to Mesopotamia.
Noordhoek Flyer, whose first crop proved popular in the sales ring, stands at the Gary Player Stud Farm for a fee of R10 000.
