First winner for Seul Amour
The well bred stallion, Seul Amour, had his first South African winner at Turffontein on Saturday. The two-year-old colt Heart of a Lion, one of just four runners to date for his sire, scored by an impressive eight lengths on Saturday, and looks to have a bright future. Heart of a Lion was bred by Terry Andrews.
His sire Seul Amour is a blue blooded, son of the great Zabeel, sire of 145 stakes winner of whom 45 are Gr1 winners. Zabeel champions include Might and Power, Vengeance of Rain, Jezabeel, Champagne, and G1 winners Dizelle, Don Eduardo, Efficient Maldivian, Railings, St Reims and Sky Heights, to name a few.
Zabeel’s legacy includes Horse of the Year Octagonal, sire of champion Australian stallion Lonhro, and successful local sire Greys Inn.
Seul Amour’s female line is equally impressive. His dam, Grand Archway, was a champion filly at three in Australia, and her 9 wins included four at the highest level. Not only did Grand Archway land both the VRC Oaks and Australian Oaks, but she beat colts in the G1 C F Orr Stakes. This is also the family of star filly Eye Liner, a 14 time G1 winner.
Himself a useful performer, Seul Amour won six races including the Sky High Stakes, and was also second in the Gp3 Kingston Town Stakes.
From just a handful of runners in Australia, Seul Amour produced 12 winners, including the high-class performer Coldens Choice, a G2 performer who won five times.
Seul Amour stands at the Vanree Stud for a registered fee of R20 000.
