Five in a row for son of Querari

Maine Chance Farms’ resident sire Querari is the sire of current South Africa racing sensation Kangaroo Jack, who made it five wins on the bounce when victorious in Saturday’s G2 Joburg Spring Challenge at Turffontein.

In landing the spoils in Saturday’s R400 000, Kangaroo Jack also made it three graded wins on the bounce –with the Gary Alexander trained four-year-old confirming his status as one of the country’s equine rising stars.

Winning rider Andrew Fortune was ecstatic after the gelding’s win on Saturday, saying, “Look here, I am not scared to take on that horse of Sean Tarry’s (Horse Of The Year Legal Eagle) in the Horse Chestnut at level weights He is an easy horse to ride and he will stretch those top horses at a mile.  We needed a horse like this to take us to the next level and let’s face it, Gary (Alexander) has trained a million Gr1 winners. “

Kangaroo Jack, whose previous wins included the G2 Post Merchants and G3 Spring Spree Stakes, has now won six of just ten outings and has earned R880 775 in prize money.

He is one of seven stakes horses (from 28 foals!) in Querari’s sparkling first crop of runners, which also includes KZN champion and G2 The Debutante winner Cosmic Light and G1 Thekwini Stakes runner up Melliflora.
Querari’s second crop, now three, included the hugely exciting G1 Thekwini Stakes winner Querari Falcon –who looks a top classic prospect for this season.

A G1 winning son of champion sprinter and outstanding sire Oasis Dream (whose sire sons include young sire sensations Power and Showcasing), Querari has three on sale at Saturday’s CTS Ready To Run Sale Presented by Lanzerac Hotel & Spa:
