Mauritzfontein’s resident sire Ideal World has been on fire late, with his runners scoring all over Southern Africa.
It was a case of five more winners for the son of Kingmambo this weekend, with Ideal World’s runners scoring both in South Africa and Zimbabwe.
First of the Ideal World runners to score was the 2yo Wilgerbosdrift owned (and bred with Mauritzfontein) filly Luna Child, who got off the mark with a game win over regally bred first timer Champenois at Greyville on Friday night.
Her sire Ideal World had a double on Saturday, when daughter Arte and son Dark Moon Rising won at Turffontein and Scottsville respectively.
Arte (one of three winners this past weekend for Oldlands Stud), made it two wins from her last three wins when successful over 2600m at Turffontein. The same day, Dark Moon Rising (bred by Dr Ian Heyns) made it win number two from only three outings when scoring a facile 2.75 length over a mile at Scottsville for trainer Paul Lafferty. The lightly raced 3yo had won on debut over 1200m and he looks a smart sort in the making.
Sunday saw Ideal World’s success continue when his Mauritzfontein bred daughter Betula Fiber picked up her second career win at Borrowdale, and his son Mangrove (bred by Mauritzfontein) storm clear at Kenilworth.
Ideal World, sire of recent feature race winners Hermoso Mundo (G3 Gold Bowl) and Louisiana (The Scarlet Lady), was also in the news overseas recently –when his champion daughter Smart Call ran third in the G2 Betfred Middleton Stakes at York. Ideal World’s family also continue to make waves, with his close relative Dansili sire of recent G3 Tattersalls Musidora Stakes winner Shutter Speed –a potential contender for the G1 Prix de Diane (French Oaks).
