Wilgerbosdrift’s exciting new sire Flower Alley will be represented by a runner in the G1 Gulfstream Park Handicap at Gulfstream Park this Saturday.
Former Canadian champion Lukes Alley (by Flower Alley) is one of eight runners set to do battle in this $350 000 contest, which has been won in past years by such stars as Court Vision, Einstein, Kip Deville and Royal Anthem –to name a few.
Among Lukes Alley’s stiffest competition in the 1800m race is last year’s G1 Arlington Million/G2 Hollywood Turf Cup hero The Pizza Man, while other graded/group winners in the race include Eh Cumpari, Legendary, Takeover Target and Triple Threat.
Lukes Alley, who was Canada’s Champion Older Male in 2014, has won or placed in five graded races and has seven of his 13 outings to date with prize money of over $500 000.
Out of the A P Indy mare Vaulcluse, Lukes Alley is a full brother to the smart winners Dottins Alley and Wanstead Gardens.
Recently, Lukes Alley finished a close second, beaten half a length, in the G2 Ft Lauderdale Stakes- beaten only by five time graded stakes winner Heart To Heart.
His sire Flower Alley has some outstanding mares in foal this season, including Jet Master’s full sister Withstand The Wind and Along The Nile –dam of G3 Tony Ruffel Stakes winner Belong To Me.
He had a 2015 stud fee of R80 000.
