A close relative of the Gary Player Stud based Noordhoek Flyer proved one of the star attractions on the first day of Goffs’ 2016 Orby Yearling Sale, which commenced on Tuesday.
Lot 240, a colt by leading sire Invincible Spirit out of Rose De France was knocked down to Shadwell for €750 000 to end as the third top lot sold on Tuesday.
Shadwell Stud’s Stephen Collins, said of the colt, “I thought he was a gorgeous horse. Obviously he is a full-brother to Cable Bay who was an outstanding racehorse-but he had everything, quality, a good demeanour and the pedigree to go with it. Hopefully he can come back to us as a stallion one day.”
The pricey colt’s second dam is G1 Haydock Sprint Cup/G1 Prix Maurice de Gheest winner Cherokee Rose –a daughter of Celtic Assembly, the third dam of G1 Cape Guineas winner Noordhoek Flyer (Pivotal).
This is also the family of G1 Dubai World Cup winner African Story (Pivotal) and recent G1 winners Just The Judge and Mukhadram.
The impeccably bred Noordhoek Flyer has 3 lots on sale at the up-coming CTS Ready To Run Sale presented by Lanzerac Hotel & Spa, which takes place at Durbanville on October 15th. His lots are:
