In form sire Mambo In Seattle had a weekend to remember when the son of Kingmambo was represented by no fewer than four winners. In fact, five of Mambo In Seattle’s last 11 runners have all won their respective races.
Mambo In Seattle’s recent winning tally included the impressive G3 Byerley Turk winner Mambo Mime, who stamped himself as a likely KZN Guineas contender with a gutsy display in Friday night’s Grade 3 feature.
One of two feature race winners on the night for trainer Dean Kannemeyer, Mambo Mime prevailed in a thrilling finish by a head from the blue blooded Baritone, with Lanzerac Ready To Run Stakes hero Budapest
The winner, who was bred by Avontuur, has now won three of nine outings and amassed over R380 000.
Out of the Miswaki mare Mumuration, Mambo Mime was a R375 000 buy from the 2014 National Sale.
Mambo Mime is the second stakes winner to have emerged from Mambo In Seattle’s second crop (now 3yos), with Listed Swallow Stakes winner Mambonick having already won her black type race.
Mambo Mime was the second son of Mambo In Seattle in the past week to have won a graded race, with Mambo’s son Fortune Fella having captured last Saturday’s G3 Caradoc Gold Cup. Mambo In Seattle’s first crop has already proved most effective, with five stakes horses, including dual G1 winner Same Jurisdiction, having emerged from it.
Runner up in the G1 Travers Stakes (when beaten the shortest of short heads), the blue blooded Mambo In Seattle (his dam is a G1 placed own sister to dual US Champion Sire A P Indy), has 14 lots on offer at the upcoming National Yearling Sale.
His draft includes siblings to such notable graded stakes winners as Eighth Wonder and Triptique, while such high class racemares as Blue Jean Baby, Platinum Cat, and Tassie Belle all have Mambo In Seattle yearlings on sale at the 2016 National Sale.
