Gimme’s daughter one to take note of

Varsfontein Stud’s resident sire Gimmethegreenlight looked a mouth watering prospect when he went to stud.
Not only was the handsome colt an exceptional racehorse –“Gimme” won his first races at two and trained on to beat dual Horse Of The Year Variety Club in the G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate, but Gimmethegreenlight has an exceptional pedigree.

He is one of more than 150 stakes winners sired by former G1 King’s Bishop Stakes winner and multiple champion sire More Than Ready, whose South African runners also include former Equus Champion Entisaar.
Sire of 20 individual G1 winners, More Than Ready is an exciting sire of sires, with his stallion sons including the exceptional Australian sire Sebring and the very promising Pluck.

Out of the winning mare Yes She Can Cancan, Gimmethegreenlight, who shares his G1 Golden Slipper winning broodmare sire Canny Lad with the great sire Redoute’s Choice, is a half brother to G1 Coolmore Classic winner Ofcourseican.

Not surprisingly, Gimmethegreenlight has made a sensational start to his stud career. Currently South Africa’s second leading first crop sire, Gimmethegreenlight already has four first crop winners to his credit –including impressive debut winner Beataboutthebush. To date, 12 of Gimme’s first crop have won or finished in the money.
With a number of well bred juveniles still in the wings, Gimmethegreenlight looks to have an exciting future ahead of him.

Boland Stud are proud to offer lot 77 –a bay daughter of Gimmethegreenlight-at the 2016 Sibaya KZN Yearling Sale.
This attractive filly is a half sister to 6 winners including G3 SA Fillies Nursery third Qui Success –the dam of smart sprinter Miss Varlicious, who runs in Saturday’s G1 City Of Pietermaritzburg Fillies Sprint at Scottsville.

Remarkably, Miss Varlicious is not the only member of this family set to contest a G1 feature at Scottsville this weekend – the undefeated Poster Girl, who hails from the same family, will line up in the G1 Allan Robertson Fillies Championship.

Out of a three time winning daughter of champion sprinter Goldmark (also damsire of champion Big City Life and high class graded winners Chesalon and Trophy Wife), the filly on sale is from the immediate family of the recently exported Team Valor owned filly, Madame Dubois. One of the best fillies of her generation in South Africa, Madame Dubois, third in the G1 Allan Robertson Fillies Championship at two, won or placed in all seven starts to date, with her victories including both the G3 Three Troikas Stakes (defeating subsequent G1 SA Fillies Classic winner Juxtapose and G2 Fillies Guineas winner Heaps Of Fun) and G3 Starling Stakes.

This is also the family of champion Argentinian filly South Vagabunda-who shares her sire Southern Halo with Gimmethegreenlight’s sire, More Than Ready.

The Sibaya KZN Yearling Sale will take place at Sibaya Casino on June 30th and July 1st, and the online catalogue is available online at
