Gimmethegreenlight climbs sires list

Varsfontein Stud’s exciting young sire Gimmethegreenlight has been on fire lately, and had yet another first crop double this past weekend.
The blue blooded son of More Than Ready is now South Africa’s Leading First Crop Sire by prize money and by individual winners, with Gimmethegreenlight’s first crop now including ten individual winners.

Gimmethegreenlight is now the fifth leading sire of 2yos this season by stakes –and is currently above such top class stallions Silvano, Western Winter, Querari, and Kahal, to name but a few.

His latest juvenile winners included the eye catching debut winner Primrose Lane (who won first time out at Kenilworth on Saturday) and Lady Negra, who scored over 1600m at Turffontein on Saturday.

To date, no fewer than 26 of Gimmethegreenlight’s first crop have won or finished in the money –a truly superb start for a young sire who has pedigree similarities with two of Australia’s top sires –Sebring and Redoute’s Choice.

The former G1 L’Ormarins Queen’s Plate winner has seven lots on offer at this week’s Sibaya KZN Yearling Sale:
