Gold Cup treble for Silvano son

Maine Chance Farms’ resident sire Silvano was represented by his 17 stakes win for the season when his evergreen son Crown Of Gold won the Listed Port Elizabeth Gold Cup at Fairview on Friday.

It was a third time that Crown Of Gold has won this race (the longest in South Africa), with the seven-year-old gelding having previously triumphed in 2013 and 2014 respectively.

Owned by Ingrid and Markus Jooste, Crown Of Gold was a R225 000 buy from the 2010 Emperors Palace National Yearling Sale.

The son of Silvano has now won 12 races and R1 018 660 in total, and has placed in a further 17 raecs.
Out of the Palace Music mare Palace Bride, Crown Of Gold is a full brother to five time winner and G3 Winter Classic runner up Ze Kaiser, and a half brother to high class stakes winners Shades Of Indigo and Silver Mist.

Former champion sire Silvano (whose July winning son Bold Silvano has made such an excellent start to his stud career) has been enjoying another superb season, with his previous stakes winners in 2015-2016 including G1 World Sports Betting Cape Fillies Guineas winner Silver Mountain and G1 Vodacom Durban July runner up Marinaresco.



The son of Lomitas has also enjoyed a fine this season with his juveniles –Silvano’s 2yo winners including the stakes winner Janoobi and Palladium, as well as G2 SA Fillies Nursery third Arissa and Listed Gatecrasher Stakes runner up Daffiq.

Silvano has four lots on offer at next month’s CTS August Two-Year-Old Sale –including a filly from the family of champion and G1 Dewhurst Stakes winner Mujahid (Lot 60), a half brother to stakes winning 2yo Captain Swarovski (Lot 66), and a colt out of six time G3 winner Golden Shina (Lot 82).

The former G1 Arlington Million’s nine lots on sale at the 2016 National Two Year Old Sale include a full brother to Equus Champion Hot Ticket (Lot 17), a filly out of stakes winner Markofdistinction (Lot 63), a half sister to KZN Yearling Sale Million hero Ace Antonius (Lot 92), a colt out of SA Fillies Nursery winner Secret To Success (Lot 130) and a half brother to recently retired G2 Betting World 1900 hero Solid Speed (Lot 218).
